New research from Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences researchers, including DPhil student Melissa Little, has found that the number of children aged 8-17 reporting weight loss attempts has increased over the last decade. The researchers also identified key characteristics linked to an increased likelihood of weight loss attempts.

New health visiting study seeks to learn lessons from pandemic

Final Honours student, Harrison France, from the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Science and the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, has recently been awarded 1st place in the the IUPHAR (International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology) Student Research Poster Competition 2022 by the British Pharmacological Society, for his research on preventable deaths involving medicines.

New antiviral, Paxlovid, added to PANORAMIC study

From today, the antiviral treatment Paxlovid has been included in the national PANORAMIC study, the UK’s fastest ever recruiting clinical trial of its kind, run by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences and supported by the National Institute for Health and Care research (NIHR).
'Goldacre Recommendations' to Drive Innovation and Improve Healthcare Through Safer Use of Health Data Published

Professor Ben Goldacre publishes findings from an independent review to improve use of health data in NHS. Recommendations include increasing transparency and modernising software infrastructure to boost research whilst maintaining high security standards. The findings have already helped shape the Health and Social Care Data Strategy, being published later this year, which will set out a vision to make better use of data to save lives.
