Sarah Stevens

MSc

Statistical/ Epidemiological Modeller

Biography

The majority of my research is around risk prediction, in particular cardiovascular disease risk prediction and blood pressure monitoring. I am currently investigating how existing cardiovascular risk prediction tools can be modified for use with blood pressure measurements taken by patients in their own homes. I am also involved in a collaborative project with Nottingham University to determine the accuracy of the QThrombosis tool for prediction of deep vein thrombosis risk.

I am also part of the Department's Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) working group which provides researchers across the University with advice and support regarding use of CPRD's GP practice records database.

More generally, I provide statistics support to the wider departmental research groups when required. I also teach statistics to pre-clinical medical students and students on selected courses taken as part of the MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care.
