A discussion around the mechanisms of nicotine addiction, nicotine replacement therapy and new ways of delivering nicotine.

As the addictive chemical in cigarettes, nicotine has a bad name for itself. But as well as underpinning cigarette addiction, nicotine has been used for decades to safely help people quit smoking.

In this free online seminar, Dr. Nicola Lindson and Dr. Jamie Hartmann-Boyce from the Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group and Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, will discuss the mechanisms of nicotine addiction. They will then review the evidence on the best ways to use nicotine replacement therapy, such as patches and gum, to help people quit smoking, before moving on to discuss new ways of delivering nicotine, with a particular focus on e-cigarettes.

Please note, this online event will take place via Zoom and will be recorded. Booking is essential.

This event is open to the public and members of Kellogg College.
