Clare Bateman

BA (Hons)

Clinical Trials Co-ordinator, BARACK D Trial

I joined the department in 2013 as Co-ordinator for the BARACK D trial and my role is to support the Senior Trial Manager and renal research team with the successful set up, delivery and completion of the trial.

BARACK D is researching a potential new treatment for chronic kidney disease which affects around 10% of the population.  It is a prospective randomised open blinded endpoint trial to determine the effect of aldosterone receptor antagonism on mortality and cardiovascular outcomes (onset or progression of cardiovascular disease) in patients with stage 3b chronic kidney disease.

Oxford is the lead centre for BARACK D which comprises six NIHR School for Primary Care Research departments across England.
