This year’s Royal College of General Practitioners John Fry Award has been awarded to Dr Daniel Lasserson, Associate Professor in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences.
Awarded to recognise efforts to promote the discipline of general practice through research and publishing as a practicing GP, the John Fry Award was presented to Dr Lasserson for innovation in acute care models for older patients, along with his research on stroke prevention and chronic kidney disease.
The John Fry Award commemorates the work of the late Dr John Fry, perhaps the most prominent GP of his generation involved in research. Awarded to a Member or Fellow of the College who has promoted the discipline of general practice through research and publishing, it is intended to encourage people to undertake research as a practising GP early on in their career and within 20 years of qualification. Previous winners include Richard McManus, Professor of Primary Care at the University of Oxford.
In addition to this prestigious award, Dan has been nominated in the 2015 Oxford University Student Union Teaching Awards for Outstanding Supervisor. Read more about the nominations here.
