© 2013 The Cochrane Collaboration. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of 1) CSF tau, 2) CSF p-tau, 3) the CSF tau/ABeta ratio and 4) the CSF p-tau/ABeta ratio index tests at various thresholds for detecting participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) at baseline who would clinically convert to Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia at follow-up. To investigate the amount of and associations of heterogeneity in the included studies of test accuracy. We expect that heterogeneity will be likely and that it will be an important component of the review. The potential sources of heterogeneity, which will be used as a framework for the investigation of heterogeneity, include target population, index test, target disorder and study quality.
