The HABIT trial is a multicentre, pragmatic, randomised controlled trial which aims to investigate whether practice nurse-delivered sleep restriction therapy is effective at reducing insomnia severity compared with sleep hygiene advice alone.

Brief nurse-delivered sleep restriction therapy in primary care reduces insomnia symptoms and improves mental health and quality of life.

It is likely to be cost-effective and could be widely implemented as first line treatment for insomnia disorder.
