GE Year 3
GE Year 3 is when students have the opportunity to spend an extended period in General Practice and learn about it in depth as a specialty. Students are attached to a local medical centre for a six-week block, supervised by a GP tutor. The students are in practice three days per week and the rest of the time is spent in seminar-style departmental teaching sessions.
The seminars are based in the Teaching Team offices and are run by GP tutors. They cover a range of topics common to Primary Care, such as Asthma, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Depression.
General Practice is taught in the “Communities Block” alongside Palliative Care, Dermatology, Geratology and Public Health.
