Data Applications Developer

  • Working on data applications development for CPRD

I am a Clinical Systems Manager at the Clinical Trials Unit. I joined the unit in 2018 as a Trainee Trial Manager on a program to quickly develop across multiple fields of trial management. I have worked across a wide variety of trials investigating treatments for chronic kidney disease, infectious disease, insomnia, hypertension, and COVID-19.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, I was assigned to work on PRINCIPLE, the national priority study for COVID-19 in the community setting. Utilizing my programming and trials experience, I was able to become a Clinical Systems Manager for the CTU in September 2020.I have since worked on the UK national priority trials for COVID-19, PRINCIPLE and PANORAMIC, as well as unit-wide projects, to improve and standardize some of the systems used in clinical trials.

I assist with teaching on the Clinical Trial Management module, that is part of the MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care. I teach eCRF design and Data Collection Methods to students who are taking this as either a stand alone course or as part of the MSc in Evidence Based Health Care.

I have been responsible for the development of websites for our trials a new source of direct public recruitment and engagement. This is part of a larger attempt by the CTU to make our research accessible to the widest possible range of people and increase inclusivity and diversity of our trials. This has led to me being part of a team that are helping to establish the new Centre for Research Equity and University of Oxford.

Overall,as a member of the Clinical Trials Unit team, it is my role to bring a unique blend of programming, trials, and project management expertise to support the unit's ongoing clinical research activities.
