ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY ROUTES TO TRAVEL INTO WORK
If you live in another area where we don't yet have a guide there are some great online resources to suggest a route specifically for cycling including:
- CycleStreets: UK-wide Cycle Journey Planner and Photomap: Cycle journey planner
- The Best Route Planner for Cycling, Walking, Hiking and Running | Komoot
Many sites include options to choose between quieter, safer, or faster routes.
Finally, if you take an alternative route to work, do please share it with us (greenimpact@phc.ox.ac.uk)!
Please click on the buttons to view the routes that have been recorded by department staff who use them, with some comments added that are intended to help people who might be using these routes for the first time.
On the fence about cycling to work?
One setback to trying a more environmentally-friendly way of travelling might be that you just aren’t too familiar with the routes you could take in to work.
One benefit of being part of such a large department in Oxford is that there are lots of people commuting from all the different areas of Oxford. Here we share some of the tried and tested routes that we actually take to commute into work, by bike, walking, taking the bus or a combination.
We'll expand this section over time with more suggested routes.
Please note, these routes are suggested routes from members of the Department who use them themselves, and are intended to be helpful, but as with all ways of commuting there are risks so please take care.
