Clinical Trials Unit UKCRC Registration Renewed
The Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit, part of a collaborative Primary Care and Vaccines Collaborative Clinical Trials Unit (PCVC-CTU), working with the Oxford Vaccine Group and the Jenner Institute, have had their full registration with UKCRC renewed for another five years.
Dr Ly-Mee Yu, Associate Professor and Deputy Director, who led the application for re-registration, commented: “I am delighted that the UKCRC Review Committee felt we provided strong evidence of our established operational experience in design and delivery of large multi-centre clinical trials”. She went on to say that the committee have asked the PCVC-CTU to become more involved in UKCRC Registered CTU Network activities, sharing their expertise more widely.
The Primary Care CTU now has an extensive trial portfolio co-ordinated in three main themes, aligned with the departmental priorities on infectious diseases, cardiovascular and metabolic disease and health behaviours.
Prof Chris Butler, who will be the Director of the PCVC-CTU for the next five years, went on to say: “This was a fantastic effort from all the team! It demonstrates the high levels of professionalism in the CTU and reinforces our culture of continual improvement. I’m really pleased that we continue to go from strength to strength in our ability to support and facilitate the strategic research aims of the department. UKCRC Registration is a badge of quality and enables us to do the kind of research that makes a real difference to clinical care and to people’s quality of life.”
