- Round 3 (2017) Opportunity for 7 University of Oxford students and 3 University of Cape Town students to be part of the exchange programme.
As a reminder, this 3 year partnership scheme will support 10 UCT PhD students spending 4 months in a collaborating group at UOXF; and 10 UOXF students spending 4 months in a collaborating group at UCT. The scheme will cover the costs of these exchange visits, a stipend, a contribution to research and bench fees or equivalent and additional partnering activities.
Initially only students from PIs listed on the application were invited to apply. In an attempt to attract more applications from University of Oxford students, for the 3rd round of applications the invitation will be extended to all students within the Medical Sciences Department, although priority will be given to students from PIs listed on the application. Selection criteria will include: quality of application, impact of project and future pathway for both student and partnership. Preference will be given to students with excellent projects and those who do not have current funding for such an exchange. Preference may also be given to students who are closely linked with Historically Disadvantaged Institutions in South Africa.
This is a really exciting opportunity for both students and departments at UOXF/UCT, so please encourage your students to apply. The 2017 call is now open and the deadline is Friday 17th November 2017. Students have until June 2018 to travel.
