Congratulations to MSc in Translational Health Sciences student Jupneet Singh on being selected as a 2025 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow for a US national merit-based graduate school fellowship.
On receiving her award, Jupneet commented:
‘The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans mission really speaks to my motivations for pursuing the career path I have chosen. I am a proud US Air Force officer and am honoured to fight for this country's values of freedom of religion and freedom of opportunity. My Sikh heritage also inspired me to pursue a career in public service, and I am excited to serve as an Air Force surgeon. The PD Soros Fellowship is supporting my MD at Harvard Medical School in the Health Sciences Technology Programme. Being part of a community that honours immigrant stories while celebrating American values is something that I deeply identify with and want to continue to champion as I go forward in my career.’
Craig Harwood, Director of PD Soros Fellowships outlined the programme and its achievements:
'Now in its 27th year, the Fellowship is a non-partisan programme that has supported over 835 fellows from 103 countries, many of whom have gone on to transform industries, advance knowledge, and strengthen communities in the United States.’
Jupneet is a Rhodes Scholar from Somis, California and a graduate of MIT, where she studied chemistry and biomedical engineering. She recently completed a master’s in public policy at Oxford and will attend Harvard Medical School upon completing her studies at Oxford. She aims to promote culturally responsive healthcare as an Air Force trauma surgeon and translate research into practical policies for patient care.
