Dispatches investigates Weight Watchers and talks to food experts, dieters and scientists to assess just how effective the company's diet plans and food products are, and asks whether they're worth the money. Claire Friedemann critically appraised the papers that they cite as evidence that their diet plan works. Her conclusions were that they do have some evidence that they work, certainly in the short term, but that there is a need for more investigation of how well weight loss is maintained long term.
