STAGE 3 Survey (September 2017)

In order to develop an effective PPI intervention, we need to identify the biggest challenges to recruitment, retention and PPI in surgical trials.

We are currently inviting surgical trial staff (in a variety of roles listed below) to take part in an online survey about their experiences of some barriers to successful recruitment and retention in UK adult surgical and surgery-related trials:

  • Research nurses
  • Chief investigators
  • Local principal investigators
  • Trial management roles (e.g. trial managers, trial co-ordinators)
  • Methodologists / researchers with expertise in recruitment and/or retention
  • Other individuals with direct experience of approaching, recruiting and/or following-up patients

The survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete, and we are offering a £10 high street shopping voucher to all participants to thank them for their time.

If you have worked on a UK adult surgical or surgery-related trial in one of the above roles, including during the patient recruitment and/or follow-up phase and within the last 5 years, we would be very grateful for your input.

Please see our information sheet for further information.

A second survey about barriers to successful patient and public involvement (PPI) in surgical trials will be launched in the coming weeks. This will be aimed at PPI contributors, PPI coordinators and surgical trial staff with experience of PPI.

Thank you for your support.
