EXPECT-2: Prospective Epidemiological Study to Estimate the O-serotype Distribution of Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli
- Status:: Closed
E.coli bacteria are a leading cause of serious infections and people 60 years or older are at a higher risk than younger adults. There is no vaccine currently available to prevent E.coli infections. To support the development of a vaccine, more information about E.coli infections is needed.
This study is being carried out by researchers at hospitals in several countries around the world to collect more information to support the development of a vaccine to prevent E-coli infections. We are hoping to recruit a total of 240 participants hospitialised with Invasive Extra-intestinal Pathogenic Escherichia Coli Disease (IED) from eight different counties and hope to recruit 30 participants in the United Kingdom. Participation will entail data collection only.
