Trial of physical activity assisted reduction of smoking (TARS)
Do you want to cut down your smoking, but are not ready to quit? Volunteers needed!
We are looking for volunteers to take part in a study investigating whether simple support from a health trainer can help people who do not want to quit in the next four weeks, to reduce how much they smoke.
The health trainer support includes helping you to do more physical activity or exercise, if you want to, at a pace that is comfortable for you. We will compare if this support reduces smoking compared to not receiving it.
You will receive £40 in shopping vouchers for completing the study.
Who is eligible?
You are suitable to take part if you:
- are over 18
- smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day
- want to cut down, but not quit.
