Patient booklets and healthcare professional checklists on how to cut down on saturated fat and salt
The patient information booklets ‘Cutting down on saturated fat’ and ‘Cutting down on salt’, as well as the accompanying nurse checklists have been developed based on two current research projects of the Health Behaviours Team: The PCShop study and the SaltSwap study.
The aim is to support healthcare professionals in providing evidence-based recommendations on how to reduce the intake of saturated fat to help lower LDL cholesterol and salt to reduce blood pressure. These dietary changes will help to prevent cardiovascular disease.
We recommend using the nurse checklist alongside the booklet. It was developed to support healthcare professionals in explaining the booklets to patients and to give guidance on information to focus on.
The brochures are free for use by healthcare professionals and for private use. Please contact Prof. Susan Jebb if you are interested in using it for a commercial purpose.
