Making an enquiry
Thank you for your interest in studying for a Postgraduate degree with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Please see below for the initial information that we send in response to all enquiries.
We ask potential applicants to firstly check their eligibility to apply using the Entry Requirements page for the specific programme you are interested in via our central department page here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate/courses/medical-sciences/primary-care-health-sciences. You can find a list of potential projects here (https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/study/dphil-and-msc-by-research/potential-graduate-research-projects); if you are interested in one of these projects please contact the supervisor directly. You are welcome to come up with your own research project; if this is the case then please look at our website which gives an overview of the research conducted (http://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/research) and the researchers in the department (http://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/team) and contact the supervisor(s) that you identify as being most suitable for your project.
Please note that our main application deadline is in early January (to start in the following October); if all available places are filled in January then applications will be closed until the next application round.

Applications are made to the Graduate Admissions Office. Application details, entry requirements and deadlines for applications can be found on the Graduate Admissions website: http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate. This site includes a comprehensive application guide as well as contact details if you have other queries relating to the technical side of applying rather than academic related queries.
Graduate Admissions are responsible for processing applications and ensuring they are complete. Their website has all the information you need in relation to application requirements. There is a web-based enquiry service ‘Any Questions?’ which can be accessed from the Graduate Admissions webpages.

Applications will be assessed by the department using our entry requirements as attached and suitable candidates will be invited to attend an interview. For non-UK applicants this may be conducted by Skype or video/teleconference.
Fees & Funding
The tuition fees for a DPhil are revised each year. The fees for the year 2020/21 will be £7,970 for a home student and £26,405 for an overseas student (part-teim students pay 50% of full-time fees). More information on fees can be found at http://www.ox.ac.uk/students/fees-funding.

Please note if you are applying for funding managed by the Medical Sciences Division you must apply by the January deadline.
English Language Requirements

The Department of Primary Care Health Sciences sets the English language requirement at the higher level.
Candidates requiring a visa must satisfy the University requirements and the UK Border Agency requirements. Students on a research programme may be accepted if they satisfy the standard requirements.
Graduate students need to spend a minimum period residing within 25 miles of Oxford’s city centre (Carfax Tower) during term. For a DPhil the minimum period is six terms; for an MSc by Research it is three terms.
