Ali Albasri

MPharm MRPharmS

DPhil Student, Clinical Pharmacist

I began my DPhil in Primary Healthcare in October 2015 under the supervision of Professor Richard McManus and Dr James Sheppard.

My research interests are centered around the management of long term conditions such as hypertension, and the delivery of clinical services in primary care - with a particular focus on the role of Pharmacists based in both General Practice and Community Pharmacy settings. I am funded through an Oxford Primary Care Research Trust Graduate Scholarship – linked to Green Templeton College, as well as through the NIHR CLAHRC and the University of Oxford.

Before starting my DPhil, I worked full time as a Pharmacist in the Oxford area and have maintained regular clinical work since. Prior to this, I completed my MPharm degree (Master of Pharmacy) with First class honours, from the Aston Pharmacy School in Birmingham. My Masters project was lab-based and investigated novel combination therapies for the management of COPD progression.

I am also a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and a registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
