I joined the department in 2013 to work as a research midwife for the BuMP pilot study 'self-monitoring of blood pressure during pregnancy' , for the early detection and management of hypertensive disorders (preeclampsia); as a member of the cardiovascular team led by Professor Richard McManus.
My role has involved working on other studies, SNAP-HT, and the Optimum study. Currently, we are recruiting for the BuMP 1 and 2 RCT, which involves self-monitoring of blood pressure for chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia.
I am a general trained nurse and midwife, as well as holding a degree in anthropology; and a Master's in Applied Sociology.
I have a keen interest in 'maternal obesity', looking towards doing further research in this area to enable better outcomes - both fetal and maternal. It is looking towards what will make a difference that matters.
