Improving the Early Detection and Diagnosis of Coeliac Disease in Children and Young People in Primary Care

Biography

Christian completed his medical degree at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He then commenced his specialty training as a paediatrics resident with the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Calgary based at Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Christian is particularly interested in paediatric emergency medicine and acute care paediatrics.

He received the Rhodes Scholarship in 2021 and took a leave of absence from his clinical training to join the University of Oxford to pursue research training.

He is reading for a DPhil in Primary Health Care Sciences and his work is focused on the interface of primary care and paediatrics by investigating the diagnosis of coeliac disease in children and young people. Christian is utilising a mixed methods approach including a systematic review and meta-analysis, a longitudinal qualitative study and a cohort study.
