Claire Friedemann Smith
MSc, DPhil
Senior Researcher
My research interests are the early diagnosis of cancer and how the way in which medical information is communicated affects patients' awareness of disease and their likelihood undertaking health protective and help-seeking behaviours. I am also interested in how primary care clinicians make decisions about patient care.
I am a senior mixed-methods researcher investigating the effectiveness of the Suspected CANcer (SCAN) pathway, the use of 'gut-feelings' in GPs' decision making, and how safety-netting advice can be most effectively communicated to patients.
