I am an NHS General Practitioner and hold a NIHR Development and Skills Enhancement Award.
My DPhil identified that individual-level approaches to preventing type 2 diabetes was was unlikely to reduce the incidence of diabetes, particularly for those from deprived areas, diverse ethnic backgrounds and women.
I am currently exploring how system's thinking and wider health systems approaches could contribute to health policies related to the the prevention of type 2 diabetes and other long-term conditions.
My wider academic interests include the use of evidence in healthcare policy, primary care health systems research, women's health, the social determinants of health and the assessment of complex interventions.
I currently sit on the Diabetes UK Research Steering Group for the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes.
I have won a number of awards for my academic and policy work including RCGP Paper of the Year, the Faculty of Public Health's President's Medal for contributions to the FPH and the Society of Academic Primary Care Junior Investigator Award 2024.
