PhD, LLM, HPD
Senior Qualitative Researcher
I work in the Health Experiences Research Group (HERG) where I carry out research through qualitative interviews with young people to explore their experiences of psychosis. The research will result in a new module on young people’s experiences of psychosis, which will be published by the charity DIPEX on the Healthtalk.org website. I have previously worked on Healthtalk.org projects on people’s experiences of
- Chronic pain,
- Mental health and ‘Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)’ and
- 'Supported Decision Making’ in mental health for Healthtalkaustralia.org.
I have a background in human rights and am interested in person-centred approaches to health care delivery. I previously researched in the fields of cultural anthropology and legal anthropology. I have authored and co-authored interdisciplinary academic papers in these areas and have sat on the editorial boards of several international interdisciplinary journals in the past. Alongside my academic work I have spent many years supporting the roll out of emergent policy and practice in local and central government in the field of ethnic minority rights and support for disadvantaged peoples.
I work part-time with HERG and alongside my research work run a private therapy practice in the UK.
