My DPhil will focus on the issue of under-5 mortality in rural South Africa. I hope to better characterise and compare the epidemiology of under-5 deaths that occur in health facilities and those that occur at home. I will then model health systems interventions to hopefully present a "package of care" to reduce childhood mortality in the region.
