Academic Clinical Fellow
My research interests include how patients’ experiences can give insights into how services are used and navigated and understanding the links between social systems and personal narrative. I’m interested in how people make sense of their body and symptoms and the line between “normal” and pathology.
My current projects include exploring representations of period products in advertising and a secondary analysis of patient’s experiences of navigating unexpected hospital admissions.
By background, I studied Medicine at Newcastle University, and have an MSc in Medical Anthropology from Durham University and MSc Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I recently completed a dissertation undertaking a secondary analysis of interviews exploring how families made decisions about whether to consent to an HPV vaccine trial in Tanzania.
