I am currently providing administrative support for clinical trials in the Cardiovascular and Renal Theme in the Clinical Trials Unit.
BUMP is the main trial I am working on. The research is based on raised blood pressure (BP) in pregnancy. Raised BP affects 10% of pregnancies worldwide, of which a high proportion develop pre-eclampsia. Around 15% of maternal mortality is due to pre-eclampsia, so early detection and prevention is paramount. Self-monitoring of BP in pregnancy could improve the detection of gestational hypertensive disorders including pre-eclampsia.
