Diet, Obesity and Gestational Diabetes
I am a dietitian interested in developing and evaluating dietary and behaviour change interventions for people with obesity-related diseases in primary care.
Currently, I am a DPhil candidate in Primary Health Care under the supervision of Professor Susan Jebb, Dr Nerys Astbury and Dr Lucy Mackillop. My project will explore the feasibility of delivery in routine practice of a reduced-carbohydrate intervention for pregnant women with obesity. The intervention aims to attenuate gestational weight gain, improve glycaemia and reduce the incidence of Gestational Diabetes. My research is funded by the Oxford-MRC Doctoral Training Partnership and the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.
Prior to my DPhil, I worked as a research assistant in a theory-based behaviour change intervention for diet and lifestyle in cancer survivors, within the Department of Behavioural Science and Health at University College London (Advancing Survival after Cancer Outcomes Trial, ASCOT).
In 2015, I completed an MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at UCL. As part of my MSc Research Project, I assisted in a trial of healthy eating and physical activity in endometrial cancer survivors (Diet and Exercise in Uterine Cancer Survivors, DEUS), led by Dr Dimitrios Koutoukidis.
In 2014, I graduated with a first class BSc (Hons) in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from Harokopio University of Athens.
