Nadeem Hussein

NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellow

Nadeem joined the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in March 2022. He has been awarded with an Economics degree and Health Economics MSc from the University of York. He has experience of working in senior managerial roles within the NHS.

Past research has focused primarily on preventive care in reducing paediatric emergency care. He collaborated with senior economists from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Department of Health. Currently, he is investigating the differing impacts of Covid-19 across Trusts in England, to observe whether they reflect underlying differences in their resilience. This is a joint project with the University of Warwick, funded by the Department of Health and Social Care.

He deploys various different econometric techniques to rich, patient-level datasets to demonstrate causal relationships between policy choices and patient outcomes.
