Polly Kerr

I am responsible for enabling and facilitating patient and public involvement (PPI) across the department, and work closely with PPI colleagues locally and nationally to ensure our work is consistent and in line with best practice. My day-to-day role includes supporting researchers with their PPI, designing and delivering training, and developing and maintaining respectful and productive relationships with PPI contributors. I set up and coordinate the department's Young Persons' Advisory Group. 

I have a background in health communication, in particular creating content in a variety of formats. I have a keen interest in promoting the relevance and importance of science and research, especially in health, to a wider audience and believe everyone has something to offer that can help advance progress in this area. I have also taught English as a foreign language and have seen how the way in which information is communicated can make a huge difference to how people receive and respond to it.

I have a degree in biomedical science, a postgraduate editorial/journalism qualification and obtained the Trinity Certificate in TESOL.
