Polly Kerr
Patient and Public Involvement Manager
I am responsible for enabling and facilitating patient and public involvement (PPI) across the department, ensuring that activities are cohesive and meangingful. This includes supporting researchers in their PPI, sharing and implementing best practice as well as ensuring respectful and productive relationships with PPI contributors.
I have a background in health communication, in particular creating content in a variety of formats for lay users. I have a keen interest in promoting the relevance and importance of science and research, especially in health, to a wider audience and believe everyone has something to offer that can help advance progress in this area. I have also taught English as a foreign language and have seen how the way in which information is presented can make a huge difference to how people receive and respond to it.
I have a degree in biomedical science, a postgraduate editorial/journalism qualification and obtained the Trinity Certificate in TESOL.
