Russ Smith

BA MA PGCE PGDL

Clinical Trial Administrator

Brief Bio

My academic background includes taking advantage of Lancaster University's - now defunct -  School of Independent Studies to construct my own BA Hons degree in the history and philosophy of quantum theory, and an MA in the History & Philosophy of Science (HPS) at Leeds University. Ongoing research currently culminating in a book.

Sought a career change from sales around the time of the 2020 Covid lockdown: started working in the PC-CTU on the national PRINCIPLE trial of potentially ameliorative drugs for early Covid 19 symptoms in October 2020, from recruitment to current final trial closure processes. Main tasks/duties now centre on assisting the inception and administration of the three international STEP (Stratification and Treatment of Early Psychosis) trials - ENHANCE, ASSIST, PROMOTE - into the efficacy of cannabidiol (CBD) on symptoms of early stage psychosis.
