About the review
Our departmental strategic review helps us evaluate our current position, set our future direction, and create a framework to measure our progress. This internal review precedes the University's departmental review (due in 2026) and gives us an opportunity to:
- Celebrate our achievements and identify what's working well
- Assess changes in the healthcare landscape and emerging needs
- Identify opportunities and gaps in our portfolio
- Refine how we present ourselves and our work
- Review our current activities and priorities
- Guide decisions about structure, recruitment and investment

Our areas of focus
The review concentrates on our core pillars of Research and Innovation, and Education - reflecting the University's primary purpose of advancing learning through teaching and research for public benefit. We're also examining five cross-cutting themes that influence all aspects of our work.
How we're developing the strategy
Working groups led by Senior Academic Committee members are examining each pillar and cross-cutting theme.
Each group will develop 2-5 key priorities and an action plan for their area, which will be reviewed by the Senior Academic and Departmental Strategic Committees.
