New Year Message from Oxford University’s Global CEO Programme
Oxford University’s inaugural Oxford Global CEO Programme is reflecting on a transformative year and looking to build on that momentum in executive education for 2026.
In an era of rapid technological advancement and geopolitical complexity, the Programme convenes senior executive leaders from diverse sectors, enhances cross-cultural leadership and promotes shared solutions to global challenges in economics, digitization, and innovation. Run by the Oxford Institute for Digital Health at Oxford University, this initiative underscores Oxford's commitment to extending its academic excellence beyond borders, cultivating influential networks that bolster economic ties, advance scientific collaboration, and reinforces the University's role as a beacon of global thought leadership.
Introduced in May 2025 with an inspirational guest speech by world-renowned investor and Balliol alumnus Jim Rogers, the Programme brought together 55 delegates for a series of immersive modules designed to explore cutting-edge themes in business, technology, and society. Below, we reflect on the key highlights from 2025, each building on the last to deliver key insights and connections.
July 2025: Launch Module in Beijing
The Programme's Beijing Launch Module immersed delegates in China's vibrant economic landscape. Hosted in the heart of the capital, sessions featured thought-provoking discussions on digital innovation and global trade, drawing on Oxford's academic rigour to address real-world applications. Speakers from Oxford engaged with leading Chinese economists and industry experts, including sessions on the future of global banking and investment.
September 2025: Oxford and Germany Modules
Transitioning to Europe, the first Oxford Module in September integrated academic depth with practical industry exposure. Held at the University of Oxford and linked to major industry visits in mainland Europe—beginning with Germany—delegates explored themes of technological disruption and sustainable business strategies. Key sessions delved into European regulatory frameworks, innovation ecosystems, and the intersection of health sciences with emerging technologies. Highlights included interactive workshops with Oxford faculty on topics such as advances in AI and special access to some of Oxford’s world-class collections, followed by site visits to leading German enterprises, including Fortune Global 500 Bosch and BASF, providing delegates with actionable insights into transatlantic business dynamics. This module reinforced the Programme's global scope, showcasing how Oxford's heritage of inquiry can inform leadership in diverse economic contexts.
December 2025: Module in Hong Kong, China and Singapore
The Module from 6-12 December brought delegates to the dynamic hubs of Hong Kong and Singapore. At Hong Kong University, delegates heard from luminaries such as Anthony Neoh KC on Hong Kong's legal structures, Professor Hualing Fu on business-law intersections, Professor Guangyuan Ma and Dr Xing Ziqiang of Morgan Stanley on economic forecasts for 2026. Visits to HashKey Group offered deep dives into fintech and blockchain led by the company’s founder, while CyberPort showcased startup ecosystems attracting billions in venture funding. Oxford speakers, including the Rt Hon George Freeman MP on tech sciences and Professor Tim Coulson on the origins of life, added interdisciplinary layers.
Shifting to National University of Singapore, the module featured quantum biology insights from George Freeman, economic outlooks by Professor Yang Jianwei, and UN perspectives from Yang Lin and Dr Jing Yu, while sessions with Seng Han Thong on Temasek's strategies and Weihan Liu on Southeast Asia's tech ecosystem provided forward-looking guidance. Company visits to UBS, Google, and TPC explored AI trends, Web3.0 regulations, and sustainable finance. An Oxford Debate on economic systems between Singapore and Hong Kong engaged all participants, concluding with a farewell dinner featuring Jim Rogers, awarding certificates and gifts to winning debating team.
The modules represent the Oxford Global CEO Programme's success in delivering transformative executive education, with over 50 delegates gaining exclusive access to world-class speakers, site visits, and debates. OIDH not only ensured academic integrity, strategic oversight, and compliance, it helped elevate the leadership capabilities of participants.
Building on the momentum of its inaugural year, the Oxford Global CEO Programme will continue in 2026 with further modules and the development of an international alumni network. The Programme represents one element of Oxford’s wider engagement with global leadership education, rooted in academic excellence, institutional integrity and long-term partnership.
