Catharina Savelkoul
DPhil Student in Health Economics
- I am a DPhil student in the Health Economics team, funded through an MRC iCASE studentship in partnership with Optum. My research investigates the drivers of career choice into General Practice (GP) among UK medical students and graduates, with a focus on workforce planning and policy design.
- I examine how individual factors (such as gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic background) and institutional factors (such as medical school culture, curricula, and exposure to general practice) shape career trajectories using UKMED data, mixed-methods research, and economic evaluation.
- Before starting my DPhil, I completed an MSc in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford and hold a BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from King’s College London.
