Academic Enrichment Programme
Supporting the transition back into academia

Alongside the modules part of the MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership, students engage with the Academic Enrichment Programme, a structured series designed to support experienced healthcare leaders in re-entering and sustaining rigorous academic scholarship.
While the programme attracts senior professionals with substantial leadership experience, returning to formal study within a multidisciplinary Master’s environment requires deliberate recalibration. The Academic Enrichment Programme provides structured space to strengthen scholarly practice, consolidate core academic skills, and maintain intellectual momentum across the degree.
Led by senior academic, Dr Davide Bilardi, the sessions run in parallel with the core curriculum. From Module 2 onwards, they are held for 2 hours every Monday during the Oxford Intensive Week.
The Academic Enrichment Programme is formally optional but forms an integral part of the MSc learning ecosystem, supporting sustained academic rigour, confidence, and progression throughout the degree.

'I completed my last degree, and wrote my last research paper, in 2005. I've always loved school, but 20 years out of an academic setting made the return a bit scary.
These Monday Enrichment sessions ease those fears, and remind me how much I know. They are a great way to ease-in to intensive week. The support sets a nice tone.'
Chryssy Moor, MGHL Cohort 4
'The Academic Enrichment programme is a welcome cushioning to academic landing if you have been out of practice for many years, as I was. Applying structure to my approach to reading academic literature, and translating this into my academic writing has been invaluable.
'The stark contrast between my application essays and my first two assignments evidence this, but the improvement in my business writing at work has been most helpful and shows impact beyond the academic environment.'
Nicola Lindop, MGHL Cohort 4
'What I found especially useful in the academic writing session was how it broke down what a question is really asking and how to approach it in a structured way. The focus on planning, identifying the type of thinking required, and reading more strategically has already changed how I approach assignments and made the process more efficient.
These sessions have already helped me move from relying on habits I had picked up over time to taking a more structured and confident approach to academic work.'
Michelle Kwok, MGHL Cohort 4
For MSc MGHL students, the skills gained through these sessions extend well beyond the programme itself, offering a foundation for continued academic study and professional growth across a broad range of contexts.
