Julie-ann Moreland

I am a diagnostic radiographer by background. I worked clinically for 5 years in a tertiary trauma centre. In 2016 I undertook the lead clinical role in establishing Suspected CANcer (SCAN) Pathway, Oxfordshire part of CRUK's ACE Wave 2 project. This is a non-specific symptom pathway for people who have vague symptoms that cannot be investigated by organ specific pathways. I was awarded Oxford NIHR BRC Predoctoral and Director Fellowships in 2023 and 2024, respectively. During these I produced and analysed a six-year patient cohort review of the SCAN Pathway. I also assisted with qualitative research investigating the impact of health literacy on patients' understanding of NSS Pathways, and on the management of risks within this system. I am interested in health inequalities in cancer diagnostics and started my DPhil in Primary Health Science with the Cancer Theme in October 2025 supported by Oxford NIHR BRC.
