I am a Dietitian interested in developing and evaluating dietary and behaviour change interventions for people living with overweight and obesity.
In 2023, I completed my DPhil in Primary Health Care, funded by the Oxford-MRC Doctoral Training Partnership and NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre. During my DPhil, I developed a reduced-carbohydrate dietary behavioural intervention for women with obesity, intended to help attenuate gestational weight gain and control glycaemia, to reduce their risk of developing gestational diabetes. I tested the feasibility and acceptability of delivering the intervention alongside routine antenatal care, conducting both quantitative analyses and qualitative interviews. I also conducted a retrospective cohort analysis to explore the association of gestational diabetes with long-term maternal health outcomes in the UK Biobank.
I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Health Behaviours Team, where I lead a variety of projects in the preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum period. I led a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effect of weight loss interventions before fertility treatment on reproductive outcomes. I developed and tested the feasibility of a low-intensity mobile app-based intervention for weight monitoring during pregnancy. I am currently analysing a large dataset from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority to explore the effect of body mass index on fertility treatment outcomes. I also secured NIHR School for Primary Care Research funding to deliver a cluster randomised controlled trial testing the effectiveness of GP-sent text message prompts in improving uptake of annual diabetes screening after gestational diabetes.
I hold a MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition from University College London, and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from Harokopio University of Athens.
