Rebecca Anderson-Kittow

Research Fellow

I am a qualitative health researcher in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. My research focuses on palliative and end-of-life care in health and social care settings, with particular interests in communication, decision making and care planning.

Methodologically, I specialise in qualitative research, including conversation analysis, interviews, focus groups and co-design.

I currently hold an NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) Postdoctoral Fellowship examining communication in out-of-hours primary care for people approaching the end of life. I am also a qualitative researcher on an MNDA-funded study exploring the management of choking in people living with motor neuron disease, using evidence synthesis, qualitative research and co-design methods to develop a clinical algorithm.

Alongside my Oxford role, I am a Co-Principal Investigator at Kingston University on NIHR-funded research developing and evaluating approaches to improve palliative and end-of-life care for people with learning disabilities using co-design methods. This includes the current DAPPLE project (NIHR159160) and the award winning Victoria and Stuart project (NIHR202963).

I welcome enquiries from prospective DPhil students interested in qualitative health research, particularly relating to palliative and end-of-life care, communication, and co-design.
