How inclusive are clinical trials? A synthesis of audits
the project
This research builds on the audits already carried out by the Institute for Cancer Research Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit and the Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit.
Audits are independent examinations of what has been done.
Eleven organisations have carried out audits of how inclusive their clinical trials are.
Inclusivity matters. We need the people who take part in research to be representative of patients. Then, the research can tell us what actually works for real patients.
A synthesis is where we combine different things to make something new and different.
In this case 11 organisations are combining the results from our different audits to see what the overall results are.
Can we find patterns in our trials? Is there something we can fix together? Can we learn from each other?
