Resources for tutors
We are committed to the professional development of our existing and prospective GP tutors.
This is an annual meeting for all GP tutors who teach on our courses. It provides updates on what is happening in the primary care teaching department, as well as the medical school as a whole. It is a valuable opportunity to meet fellow tutors, discuss important issues and learn about new developments.
All tutors will receive an invitation once the upcoming conference date is confirmed. It is usually held in May or June.
Other Educational Events
Each course (for example, Patient and Doctor 1, Communication Skills, Year 5) has its own training events throughout the academic year. Tutors will be informed about these via email. If you would like any further information, please contact Dr Julian Hancock at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Teaching excellence awards
Three of our tutors were 2019 recipients of the Medical Sciences’ Division Teaching Excellence Awards. Dr Helen Salisbury, Professor Carl Heneghan and Dr Suzanne Stewart have been recognised for their excellent contribution to teaching at the University of Oxford.
Dr Helen Salisbury and Professor Carl Heneghan have been given lifetime achievement awards, which recognise a sustained commitment to education throughout their career. Dr Suzanne Stewart, a GP Tutor based in Kidlington, is the recipient of an excellent teacher award.
We welcome enquiries from GPs who are interested in teaching Oxford undergraduates, whatever their previous experience of medical education.
For any questions or queries about new tutoring opportunities, please contact Dr Julian Hancock, Academic Lead Primary Care Teaching at email@example.com or Dr Richard Harrington, Associate Director, Graduate Entry Medicine at firstname.lastname@example.org.
