Andrew Fairbairn

BSc (Hons) MBBS MRCGP

General Practice Commercial Research Fellow

  • Facilitation of commercial and non commercial research in Primary Care
  • GP support to the Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit
  • General Practioner

My work focuses on supporting the implementation of clinical trials at the Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit - providing a ground level clinicians perspective to recruitment and implementation problems in clinical trials conducted in Primary Care.

In addition I am one of 11 SPCR/NIHR funded General Practice Commerical Research Fellows in England who's aim is to enable new capacity in commercial research delivery in out of hospital settings, and increase the number of Primary Care Practices participating in commercial research.

Before joining the PC-CTU in 2021 I spent most of my career working as a GP in practices across London, Bristol, the South West and Birmingham. I spent several years as a GP with a special interest supporting the Community Drug and Alcohol Service in Bath, England and have additional experience in Homeless Health Care, Prison General Practice and General Adult Psychiatry.
