I am a Professor of Primary Care in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. I graduated from Birmingham University Medical School in 1983. Following hospital training in paediatrics and vocational training in general practice I became a Principal in General Practice at Morland House Surgery in Wheatley, Oxfordshire in 1990 where I continue to practice. After completing an epidemiology MSc at the London School of Hygeine and Topical Medicine I was appointed to a University Lecturership in General Practice in 2001 and a Governing Body Fellowship of St Hugh’s College in 2002.
I was appointed Director of Graduate Studies for the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in September 2017
I have been the GP member of the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation since 2006 and Deputy Chairman since 2015. I was appointed to GMC Council in 2017. I am an editorial advisor for the British Medical Journal series ‘Easily Missed?
