DPhil Candidate in Obesity and Breast Cancer & Medical Oncology SpR

Dr. Emma Crewe is a Medical Oncology Specialty Registrar doctor (ST6) at The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK.

Her primary research interests include the relationships between diet, obesity, weight loss, and cancer.

She is currently undertaking a DPhil in the Health Behaviours Group, where she is leading a clinical trial in the secondary care setting to assess the feasibility of weight loss interventions for breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant anti-cancer therapy, while also aiming to improve chemotherapy efficacy and survival outcomes.

She is grateful to be funded by the University of Oxford to undertake her research and was awarded a generous Nuffield Department scholarship.

She completed her MSc in Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), University of London, in September 2024 with Distinction and has been nominated for the Professor Alan Horwich Prize.

Her other interests include medical leadership and education. In 2023, she was awarded Distinction for The Royal Marsden School Leading for Change leadership course (Master’s level). She was elected as the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Associate College Tutor (2023 -24) and has won the Oxford Thames Valley Postgraduate Medical Educator Award twice.

In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing for film and television on cancer-related topics. She has completed the competitive University of Oxford Insight into Creative Writing programme and has formal training in scriptwriting from London film schools.
