Gina Wren

Postdoctoral Researcher
Gina is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Her work focuses on digital health and behaviour change, with a particular emphasis on exploring how generative AI can be applied to scalable, evidence-based health coaching interventions to improve health behaviours and outcomes.
Gina completed her DPhil in the department as a 2021-2025 Oxford–MRC DTP Enterprise iCASE scholar under the supervision of Professor Susan Jebb, Dr Dimitrios Koutoukidis, and Dr Jadine Scragg. Her doctoral research focused on using behavioural insights to improve the effectiveness of digital weight management interventions, in partnership with Second Nature, an NHS-commissioned digital weight management provider. Her work involved developing and testing novel intervention components to enhance participant engagement.
She holds an MRes in Biomedical Researchwith Distinction from Imperial College London, where she was awarded the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Prize, and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Durham University. Prior to her doctoral training, she gained experience as an Analyst supporting investment and innovation in the UK Health and Life Sciences sector, and as a Research Assistant at Imperial College London investigating the role of dietary factors in hypertension.
