Gina Wren

BSc, MRes, DPhil

Postdoctoral Researcher

Gina is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on digital health and behaviour change, with the aim of improving health behaviours and outcomes through scalable, evidence-based interventions. This work is important because well-designed digital health programmes have the potential to address major public health challenges and support health systems to deliver effective care at scale. Her current focus is on exploring how generative AI can be applied to digital health interventions to support personalised health coaching.

Gina completed her DPhil in the department as a 2021-2025 Oxford–MRC DTP Enterprise iCASE scholar under the supervision of Professor Susan Jebb, Dr Dimitrios Koutoukidis, and Dr Jadine Scragg. Her doctoral research focused on using behavioural insights to improve the effectiveness of digital weight management interventions, in partnership with Second Nature, an NHS-commissioned digital weight management provider. Her work involved developing and testing novel intervention components to enhance participant engagement.

She holds an MRes in Biomedical Researchwith Distinction from Imperial College London, where she was awarded the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Prize, and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Durham University.
