BSc, MSc, PhD

Teaching Fellow

  • Teaching Fellow (Global Healthcare Leadership Programme)

I am a global health researcher and epidemiologist, interested in improving community health and nutrition outcomes through sustainable interventions that leverage traditional ecological knowledge and scientific evidence.

My research focuses mainly on understanding the double burden of malnutrition (the co-existance of undernutrition, overnutrition and subsequent non-communicable diseases), and finding strategies to address this challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am currently Principal Investigator for a maternal and child nutrition study in Laikipia County, Kenya, with funding from Mpala Research Fund. Here we seek to explore the different ways climate change is impacting health and nutritional status of rural communities, and find ways to mitigate these, while concurrently improving methods for the prevention and detection of acute malnutrition in children.

Prior to that, I have led projects in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the United States (U.S) and have received numerous awards, including a recent Fulbright Fellowship, and African Nutrition Leadership Grant.

Teaching and Supervision

I have taught a wide range of nutrition and research methods courses, including experiential learning classes delivered in collaboration with elementary schools and the YWCA in the U.S. Most recently, I taught undergraduate epidemiology at Princeton University. Currently I provide support and supervision to dissertation projects for students in the MSc Global Healthcare Leadership programme offered by Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in partnership with Saïd Business School.
