Javad Javan Noughabi

Researcher in Health Economics

I am a Health Economist at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford.

My research focuses on the use of advanced econometric techniques, real-world data analysis, economic evaluation and decision-analytic modelling, systematic reviews, and qualitative studies to evaluate policies, innovative health interventions, and social care programmes.

I earned my PhD in Health Economics with a focus on the economic evaluation of diagnostic tests for coronary artery disease. From 2019 to 2023, I held a position as Assistant Professor at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), where I was actively involved in teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.

Prior to joining Oxford, I spent a year at the University of Exeter (2023–2024), contributing to projects assessing the cost-effectiveness and acceptability of an AI-based diagnostic tool for skin cancer.

At Oxford, I am currently engaged with two major programmes: the National Institute for Health Research HealthTech Research Centre in Community Healthcare (NIHR HRC), where I support the development and implementation of HealthTech evaluation methodologies across all thematic areas; and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Theme 6: Novel Methods to Aid and Evaluate Implementation. In this capacity, I provide methodological, statistical, and health economic expertise across multiple collaborative research themes.
