Research interest equality, diversity and inclusion in postgraduate medical education
I am a clinician, working as a salaried GP in a surgery in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. I am currently reading for a DPhil in Primary Care Health Sciences.
I completed my MBChB at the University of Birmingham, and have a Masters in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Sheffield. I am primarily a qualitative researcher and will be using a realist approach for my DPhil.
My research interest is equality, diversity and inclusion within the context of postgraduate medical education. More specifically, I am interested in understanding the 'award gap' which exists between international medical graduates and UK medical graduates in general practice training. I am currently undertaking a scoping review to explore the literature in this area, which will be followed by a realist review and realist evaluation.
I believe in the development and delivery of relevant, accessible research. A project specific patient participation and involvement (PPI) group continue to be involved at all stages of the research. I have also recruited a panel of stakeholders with lived experience of working as an international medical graduate in general practice training.
