Lydia Prieto


Lydia is an NIHR pre-doctoral fellow based at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. She joined the Health Economics and Policy Evaluation research group on December 2023 to develop her pre-doctoral fellowship, supervised by Dr Catia Nicodemo.

Lydia holds a BSc in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University and a MSc in Gender Studies from the Inter-University Women and Gender Studies Institute, with a Work and Public Policy specialization. For her final master's project, she conducted a research on how household indebtedness could have a negative influence on unpaid work and mental health. 

Previously, she has worked for two years as a research assistant at the Barcelona Institute of Economics on gender and health Economics topics. Her main research interest is to apply econometric methods in the study of health economics, with an emphasis in gender inequalities and policy evaluation. During this fellowship, Lydia plans to further develop her skills in quantitative research methods and explore other research topics as financial inequalities and health.
