Margaret Głogowska

Senior Researcher
Margaret is currently a senior researcher in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at University of Oxford. With a professional background in speech and language therapy, Margaret became a health services researcher in 2005 and worked on various studies in the fields of health care and health care education, involving quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods.
She joined the department in December 2012 to work on HoldFAST, a multi-centre study (in collaboration with the Universities of Bristol and Keele) of patients with a diagnosis of heart failure and at high risk of hospital admission for exacerbation of symptoms.
She was funded by the Oxford CLAHRC to conduct a qualitative, ethnographic study of older patients’ experiences of using an Emergency Multidisciplinary Unit (EMU). Within the CLAHRC she has also been a collaborator on an evaluation of dementia-friendly environmental changes in care homes in Oxfordshire (Dignity Plus) and on an evaluation of new models of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Oxfordshire.
More recently she has been involved in conducting and supervising qualitative and mixed methods research in the NIHR Community Healthcare MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative.
She has always been very active in teaching research methods to health care students and practitioners at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and was an External Examiner on a Masters in Research in Clinical Practice programme for several years. She has experience of Masters and Doctoral level supervision and has acted as an External Examiner at Doctoral level on two occasions to date.
She currently teaches on the qualitative research methods programme for HERG and provides supervision to MSc students on the Evidence Based Health Care programme.
